Synonymous with excellence within Australia’s equestrian industry, the Inglis family have an extensive history across Thoroughbred racing as well as competitive showjumping.
Unimpressed with our competitors’ products, the Inglis family were looking to install a high-performance arena surface suitable for showjumping and dressage; a surface that was able to withstand local climatic conditions, requiring less water and reduced maintenance. Aware of the broad experience of the GeoPro Footing and Peppertree Equestrian teams (lead by Marty McInerney), the family approached us to supply and install a bespoke GeoPro Footing blend to be used on their brand new 80m x 50m arena.
At GeoPro Footing, we’re delighted to work alongside arena builders across Australia.
Anthony Eccersley from C&E Earthworks commenced the project by surrounding the 80mx 50m arena with two 150mm boards at the base of the arena fence. C&E Earthworks then added a laser-levelled, sandstone base, prior to securing two sprinkler placements within the arena for the fully automatic watering system to be installed.
During the construction period, our team was brought in to determine the ideal sand and synthetic surface mix for the location and high-performance riding disciplines. Marty determined that the unique combination required included a sand type with ~8% clay content mixed with a well-drained, clean,fine-grained variety – blended to the correct consistency via a sieve prior to blending with our 100% Australia synthetic fabric.
Marty, together with Anthony, then installed the finishing touch to theInglis’ arena by spreading this bespoke GeoPro Footing and sand blend evenly across the entire surface – ready to ride on!
