Owner and manager of Taronnah, a Leading Edge Life Skills venue, Jenny together with her husband David and children are keen equestrians with decades of experience across many disciplines. Most recently, Jenny’s focus has been on delivering leadership programs via experiential learning with horses. Taronnah is an exceptional property featuring a full-size indoor arena.
The Austin’s existing indoor arena was tired and in need of an overhaul. Introduced to GeoPro Footing whilst competing at The Rider’s Series, Jenny and David looked to Marty and our Peppertree Contracting team to remove the old arena surface, refresh the existing infrastructure, and supply and install a unique GeoPro Footing blend suited to the needs of Leading Edge Life Skills as well as competitive showjumping.
Time was of the essence in this project. All works – including a new arena irrigation system - had to be complete and the 24m x 64m indoor arena ready to ride on in seven days. Thank goodness the arena was under lights!
Kick starting the project, our Peppertree Contracting team thoroughly removed the old surface from the arena, prior to levelling the base. Whilst the arena was empty, we then set to work on the walls to restore them to picture perfect condition.
Our GeoPro Footing team commenced works by placing 300 tonnes of new superfine sand in small piles inside the arena together with the prescribed amounts of GeoPro, so when mixed, there would be 2.5kg of synthetic fibre per square metre of arena surface. We then combined the sand and GeoPro, spreading it evenly across the surface,prior to dosing the entire area with water in order to help bed the mixture down. A final level and groom with the Toro Sand Pro bunker rake and the arena was ready for use by the Austin family and the Leading Edge Life Skills clientele.
The finishing touch for this project was to supply and install a fully automatic irrigation system that would reach every inch of the new surface (including Hunter i40 sprinklers, Hunter solenoids, Hunter X Core controller and a Tesla band 6 submersible pump.
Utterly delighted with the outcomes of their partnership with us, the Austin’s have since engaged us to provide a brand new round yard – complete with a bespoke GeoPro Footing surface.
